Universal Learning Solutions has previously worked with the Ministry for Education in Cameroon and Jolly Learning Ltd to deliver two previous stages of the Jolly Phonics project in the country. The first pilot stage was delivered in 2014 and 2015, with smaller scale pilots of the Jolly Phonics method in partnership with the University of Bamenda, whose most recent 2018 evaluation highlighted that: “In all of the sections of the assessment Jolly Phonics taught children out-performed the control children dramatically.”

Such findings have consistently been recorded in all the stages of the Jolly Phonics project in Cameroon to date and led to the Ministry of Education incorporate the methodology into their 2016 National Curriculum. This impact mirrors the findings of our work in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa, where the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in Nigeria: Kilifi and Tana River County Governments: Eastern and Western Cape Province governments in South Africa respectively have sought to partner with Universal Learning Solutions and Jolly Learning LTD to train, equip and mentor over 105,000 teachers to date, a number that is set to double in Nigeria alone in the next 18 months.
