In 2015 a pilot study was conducted in Vijai Nagar Colony. The results showed a positive impact for pupils using Jolly Phonics which lead to a rollout in Ankal Block in 2018. In 2019 the Principal Secretary for School Education Ms. Shalini Rajneesh IAS officer welcomed the programme and signed an MoU for a rollout in 10 districts.

To date Jolly Phonics has been rolled out in 4 of the planned districts. In 2019-20 this was in Ramnagara district. In 2020-21 Jolly Phonics spread to Kalburgi, Yadgir and Raichur districts.

There are plans for a full state rollout where emphasis on regular monitoring and mentoring is part of the planned strategy.

Dr. S.V. Gomathi is an experienced Education Consultant and a certified Jolly Phonics Professional Trainer. With a strong commitment to literacy, Dr. Gomathi plays a crucial role in enhancing education systems by supporting government (particularly in rural and tribal areas) and private schools across India. She manages large-scale Jolly Phonics projects in selected states, helping to improve early literacy skills among young learners. In addition to her consultancy work, Dr. Gomathi remains passionate about teaching and continues to work directly with the early years children, nurturing their foundational literacy skills and fostering a love for learning.
