The proposal for the rollout of Jolly Phonics was submitted to Mr. Amarjit Jena, CEO of MoSchool ('My School' who function as a mediator between Jolly Futures and the Education Department in Odisha). The former Principal Secretary, Ms. Chithra Arumugam IAS, granted permission for the state rollout. During the pandemic Jolly Phonics training was delivered online Jolly Phonics in 4 districts; Ganjam, Keonjhar, Nyagar and Bhubaneswar.

Following the pandemic, in person training was delivered in Keonjhar to the same teachers. This training continued into 2023.

There are on-going discussions to rollout Jolly Phonics to the remaining districts in Odisha.

Jolly Phonics has been rolled out in Keonjhar, Ganjam, Bhubaneswar Block in Khurda District, Nyaghar District. Plans for further districts are underway

Project Partners

Dr. S.V. Gomathi is an experienced Education Consultant and a certified Jolly Phonics Professional Trainer. With a strong commitment to literacy, Dr. Gomathi plays a crucial role in enhancing education systems by supporting government (particularly in rural and tribal areas) and private schools across India. She manages large-scale Jolly Phonics projects in selected states, helping to improve early literacy skills among young learners. In addition to her consultancy work, Dr. Gomathi remains passionate about teaching and continues to work directly with the early years children, nurturing their foundational literacy skills and fostering a love for learning.
